Hi everyone!
I know there are a lot of "my tegu won't eat" posts on here but I've read a lot of suggestions and seem to have tried them all..
Some background info:
I bought my argentine B&W tegu in September 2012 (he was born in July 2012) and when I got him settled he would eat about 1-2 mouth sized balls of ground up turkey with various fruits/veggies (which is what the breeder was feeding). Then he went down to about 1 mouthful a week and eventually stopped eating all together. He has rarely come out to bask since I've had him. I was trying hard to keep him from brumating but ended up letting him sleep in January and just woke him up myself at the beginning of April because he wouldn't wake up. I did have a battle with mould at one point during his brumation and had to wake him up to change substrate but he went right back to sleep. Since he has been awake (about 1.5 weeks) he has not eaten a thing. I've tried everything. Ground turkey, ground chicken, crickets, superworms, pinkie mice, Dipping pinkies in egg yolk, cutting up pinkies, hard boiled eggs, salmon, halibut.. I feed the food warmed up in a bowl of warm water. His hot spot is 100, general temp is 80-85 (temp does drop down to about 68 in my house at night) and humidity is about 70-75%
He is not losing drastic weight and when I take him out for baths/social time he is active but I'm starting to worry. I saw a picture of a tegu from the same clutch as him and it was quite a bit bigger.
I may take him to a vet in my area but I'm not confident in their ability with exotics. If I want to go to an exotic vet I will have to drive 3 hours (I'm a veterinary technician and will do what I have to do to keep my critters healthy!)
If anyone has any input at all I would love to hear it. I expected him to be starving after sleeping for so long but he has zero interest..
