Ok, so as you all know, I bought 2 tegus within a week. The Colombian is eating fine, no big deal. The red I believe is in hibernation. I've seen him out a few times, that's it. I don't want to disturb him esp if he is in hibernation. Problem is, he barely eats when he is out. A few mouthfuls.
**prior enclosure had sand as substrate and not enough to burrow in. If you need to know.
Now for the questions.
1. Should I be worried about him barely eating?
2. How long does the hibernation last or is there something I need to do to help him along?
3. The red is very mean. I've been putting our tshirts in there he will burrow in them, but it doesn't seem to help. After he eats we mess with him hold him, etc Anything else you suggest? (I'm aware I've only had him like 2 wks but I don't want this to slip away from me). I would like to eventually take him on a leash in summer out and about with me and the fam.
