Hello there! So I don't currently have a tegu...but I'm planning of getting one around November. I thought that I could make an account and learn as much as humanly possible about Argentinian tegus before actually purchasing one. Any advice you can give is greatly appreciated and welcomed.
Now to answer some questions concerning my current understanding of tegus.
1) I believe I am ready for a larger lizard then my previous bearded dragons. I have also had different species of boas.
2) for the cage I am planning on turning my closet into one. Once converted it will measure 8x3.
3) I am not afraid of bugs or rats so feeding rodents to my future scaly friend will be no problem. The same goes for ground turkey and eggs :)
4) I am home schooled so I have a ton of time to spend on taming the tegu.
5) I am very committed and will never let the tegu go to a shelter or release it.
