What are some signs of stress?

I have had my Tegu for about a week now. He spends almost all his time in his hide buried in his substrate. I am assuming he is just in hibernation mode. When I take him out he is not at all aggressive or fidgety. He just sits in my hand or lap, lets me pet him for a minute, then just goes and tries to hide and go to sleep.

He wont eat (tried to feed him a couple times in our bathroom and he just found the darkest spot and went to sleep) he will come out of his shleter occasionally, take a sip of water, go sit under the heat and UV bulbs, then go back to his hut and go back to sleep.

I just want to check that he is hibernating and not stressed out.

More info: wild caught about a year ago (around a year old when caught), male, spent a year in at Glades Herp, now in Fort Myers FL. with me.

I am new to Tegus and I am pretty sure he is just hibernating, but i'm a little worried and would love some input.

Thanks!
