I just purchased a 5 moth old red tegu. When I examined it, and when I observe it, it seems healthy. I can't tell whether it's male or female yet. Since I put it in its cage, it has not eaten. I hold out mealworms and it licks them then walks away. If I accidentally touch it it puffs and hisses. Is it possible that it is in brumation? Or possibly just not used to its new home yet?
