tail wagging

Now i know from certain other species of reptile tail whagging is a form of agression, is it the same with Tegu's every so often ive noticed my tegu sort of waves his tail, if you can imagine how a rattle snake would a bit like that, the thing is no one is near him when he does it, it appears to be completley random.

I'm assuming there is something not to his liking.
