So my red tegu LOVES crickets how often should I allow him to have them? He doesn't show much interest in anything else since he has been eating them ... I was gonna go w/ once maybe twice a week but if it is ok to gut load them spray them w/ some vitamins and calcium and let him have them more often I would like to know. Also any tips on getting a tegu to eat things that aren't moving? lol let me give the long list of items i have offered mango(has eaten), strawberries(has eaten), tomatoes(won't eat), pineapple (has eaten),ground chicken(won't eat), ground turkey(won't eat), beef liver(will eat), chicken liver(will eat), mealworms (won't eat), superworms(won't eat), crickets(eats like a velociraptor), kiwi(won't eat),dog food(won't eat), mixed fruit cocktail (cherries,pear,peach,grapes...will eat under duress) green grapes(won't eat), ground beef (lean and he won't eat it), watermelon(won't eat), cantaloupe(won't eat),boiled egg(will eat)...I think there is some more but i have tried so much i would have to get the list anyway ... the only think i can consistently get him to eat is the crickets... its like i try something one time he eats it so I try something else he doesn't eat so i go back to the first thing and he won't eat that... but crickets he eats every time... i gut loaded these w/ fresh fruits and veggies and then i sprayed them w/ liquid multi vitamins and liquid calcium is that sufficient? can he eat them more regularly and be ok... is it just a think where i have to keep trying all different things and we will stumble upon what works... you know i did research before i got him... apparently not enough... lol anyway he is seemingly happy and i soak him and he loves it and hopefully one day he will want to be my friend instead of being forced to be my friend lol
